Racing Incident Report
AFFECTION and CALIFORNIA GIRL were slow to begin.
WINNING LEGEND began only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between NOBODY BUT YOU and SMART VOLATILITY which shifted in after also being tardy to begin.
After the 800 Metres, DIVINE DIYA was momentarily awkwardly placed between EASY AHEAD and CALIFORNIA GIRL, both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 100 Metres, SMART VOLATILITY shifted in abruptly, resulting in GOLDEN BAUHINIA being momentarily inconvenienced. After this, SMART VOLATILITY continued to race greenly and shifted ground in the run to the finishing line.
Passing the 100 Metres, DIVINE DIYA got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly.
When questioned, T H So stated that he had been instructed to position NOBODY BUT YOU in about a midfield position if possible. He said shortly after the start he heard calling from his outside and for this reason he looked to his outside to establish whether he was causing interference. He said that when he did this, he ascertained that SMART VOLATILITY had not begun quickly but was being ridden along to make up ground. He said as he intended to shift across SMART VOLATILITY at this stage, he again had a look to his outside to establish whether he was clear to do so. He said as he was unsure as to whether he was clear to shift ground at this time, he continued to look to his outside, however, it became apparent to him that SMART VOLATILITY had established its position to his outside and therefore he did not shift further ground. T H So was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, he should, wherever possible, refrain from the practice of looking around unnecessarily in races.
SMART VOLATILITY and NOBODY BUT YOU were sent for sampling.
