Racing Incident Report
NOBLE FLIER was crowded for room at the start between MOUNT VICTORY and GORGEOUS RULER, both of which shifted ground.
KING GALILEO and LUCKY ARMY bumped at the start.
From wide barriers, FULL SPIRIT and SPARKLING were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
For some distance after entering the Straight on the first occasion, SUNNY SKY got its head up when being steadied to allow REDOUTE’S FORTUNE to cross.
Approaching the 400 Metres, SUPREME TYCOON shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GORGEOUS RULER which became unbalanced.
Rounding the Home Turn, SUPREME TYCOON and GORGEOUS RULER raced tight as SUPREME TYCOON improved into a narrow run between that horse and REDOUTE’S FORTUNE.
KING GALILEO had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Near the 200 Metres, SUPREME TYCOON was checked when crowded for room inside GORGEOUS RULER which was taken in slightly by MOUNT VICTORY (Z Purton) and REDOUTE’S FORTUNE (R Fourie) which shifted out. Z Purton was advised to exercise care whilst R Fourie was severely reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he must make a greater effort than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY ARMY and NOBLE FLIER after the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on MOUNT VICTORY at the request of Trainer P O’Sullivan. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MOUNT VICTORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MOUNT VICTORY and KING GALILEO were sent for sampling.
