Racing Incident Report
CARE FREE PEGASUS, which was leaning on the inside of its stall, was slow to begin. Near the 50 Metres, M Chadwick (BOULD MOVER) dropped his left rein. When questioned, D Whyte (ORIENTAL PROSPER) stated that his mount was positioned to the outside of B CHOICE. He said after the 800 Metres he had to ride ORIENTAL PROSPER along in an attempt to improve his position and despite being ridden along the horse was reluctant to maintain its position outside B CHOICE. He said passing the 600 Metres B CHOICE was taken out slightly by LIFELINE ELITE and he felt that to maintain the position to the outside of B CHOICE, he would have had to ride ORIENTAL PROSPER along vigorously. He said that as he had made use of ORIENTAL PROSPER in an attempt to maintain his position prior to this, he was reluctant to ride it along more vigorously, therefore he decided to allow B CHOICE to cross ORIENTAL PROSPER in the hope that his mount would travel more genuinely. He added near the 400 Metres B CHOICE shifted in and he rode ORIENTAL PROSPER along in an attempt to re-establish the position to the outside of that horse, however, B CHOICE was then ridden along by its rider with the whip in the right hand and B CHOICE shifted out slightly. He said for this reason after being awkwardly placed on the heels of B CHOICE, he shifted his mount to the inside of that horse and obtained clear running between that horse and LIFELINE ELITE. When questioned regarding the performance of B CHOICE, B Prebble stated that his mount travelled well in the early stages, however, came under pressure approaching the 400 Metres. He said he rode his mount along, however, B CHOICE did not quicken and passing the 200 Metres made an abnormal breathing noise. He said after this B CHOICE finished off the race only fairly. A veterinary inspection of ORIENTAL PROSPER, B CHOICE and LIFELINE ELITE after the race did not show any significant findings. AMBER SKY and BOULD MOVER were sent for sampling.
