Racing Incident Report
MONEY WIN WINS was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN which shifted out. STORM UNICORN was slow to begin. In the early and middle stages, DANEWIN TIGER continuously got its head up in the air and proved very difficult to settle. As this was the second occasion that DANEWIN TIGER had performed in this manner, the Stewards ruled that prior to being permitted to race again, DANEWIN TIGER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a series of official barrier trials around a bend. The Stewards also ruled that the prohibition on apprentice jockey’s riding DANEWIN TIGER would continue. Approaching the 900 Metres, STORM UNICORN was steadied away from the heels of ALL BOUNTIFUL which got its head on the side and shifted in away from DAPPER BOY which itself was shifting in. After this, DAPPER BOY shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BE-FABULOUS. SPLENDID GUY, which was following, was checked and shifted in abruptly and improved inside the heels of DAPPER BOY. As a consequence, DAPPER BOY was left racing three wide and without cover. Near the 750 Metres, PERI PERI SAFFRON was checked away from the heels of STORM UNICORN. CHINA ANGEL, which was following, was hampered in consequence and MONEY WIN WINS, which was proving difficult to settle, was shifted out when being checked away from the heels of PERI PERI SAFFRON and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of PERFECT FIT which became unbalanced. Rounding the Home Turn, SILVER DRAGON and POTENTIAL raced tight as SILVER DRAGON shifted out to obtain clear running. Shortly after entering the Straight, PERI PERI SAFFRON was steadied and shifted in after being disappointed for running between ALL BOUNTIFUL and STORM UNICORN which shifted out. In the Straight, DAPPER BOY hung in and proved difficult to ride. After the race, B Prebble stated that DAPPER BOY did not feel comfortable in its action. A veterinary inspection of DAPPER BOY after the race including an endoscopic examination did not show any significant findings. When questioned regarding his riding of CHINA ANGEL, particularly in the Straight, O Doleuze stated that from the outside barrier, he had been instructed to shift CHINA ANGEL across behind runners shortly after the start and obtain a position closer to the rail. He said at the entrance to the Straight he was able to improve his position along the rail as PERI PERI SAFFRON, which was racing ahead of CHINA ANGEL, shifted out to obtain running to the outside of STORM UNICORN. He said CHINA ANGEL improved quickly to be racing behind STORM UNICORN and after being momentarily held up behind that horse was able to continue to improve along the rail as STORM UNICORN was shifted out to obtain clear running. He said he placed CHINA ANGEL under pressure and the horse responded well to his riding. He added passing the 300 Metres CHINA ANGEL was reluctant to shift to the outside of HINYUEN PALADIN, however, near the 200 Metres he was able to direct CHINA ANGEL to the outside of that horse. He said at this time HINYUEN PALADIN shifted out marginally whilst PERFECT HEDGE was directed in by its rider to avoid the heels of DAPPER BOY which was hanging in. He said when this occurred, CHINA ANGEL shifted in of its own accord behind HINYUEN PALADIN. He said after this PERFECT HEDGE shifted in to race outside of HINYUEN PALADIN which itself shifted out slightly. He said he consequently attempted to improve to the inside of HINYUEN PALADIN, however, he was not of the belief that there was sufficient room to do so and because of this he was not able to test CHINA ANGEL out over the concluding stages. O Doleuze was advised that his riding in the Straight had come under notice and that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made a far greater effort to maintain his position to the outside of HINYUEN PALADIN and inside PERFECT HEDGE after the 200 Metres. He was further advised to ensure that he rides his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query. O Doleuze was also severely reprimanded for his conduct during this inquiry. A veterinary inspection of CHINA ANGEL after the race did not show any significant findings. DAPPER BOY, BE-FABULOUS and PERI PERI SAFFRON were sent for sampling.
