Racing Incident Report
Shortly after the start, GABRIAL THE KING was bumped by GOOD FELLOW which, after beginning awkwardly, was taken in by JACKTHELAD. From wide barriers, FANTASTIC TEAM and NIGHTLIGN were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being steadied to allow STERLING CITY to cross at the 900 Metres, JACKTHELAD got its head up and proved difficult to settle. After being crossed by STERLING CITY passing the 900 Metres, JACKTHELAD was steadied away from the heels of that horse. Near the 100 Metres, GABRIAL THE KING was steadied on the outside of FLASHING GUY as STORM UNICORN shifted in under pressure. After this, GABRIAL THE KING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STORM UNICORN and because of this was not fully tested over the concluding stages. Throughout the race, FLASHING GUY travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of YOU KNOW I WIN, W C Marwing stated that he galloped the horse last Thursday and this work had been pleasing. He said on the strength of this work, it was anticipated that YOU KNOW I WIN would perform well. He said that YOU KNOW I WIN travelled satisfactorily until entering the Straight where, soon after, the horse came under pressure and commenced to give ground. He added that although the horse was coming back in distance, in his opinion, this did not have a large bearing on the horse’s poor performance today. A veterinary inspection of YOU KNOW I WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. STERLING CITY and SHAHJEE were sent for sampling.
