Racing Incident Report

On leaving the Parade Ring, CHANCELLOR made contact with a rail. CHANCELLOR was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the Start and passed suitable to race. Just prior to the start being effected, ISLAND SPRING lunged at the front gates. ISLAND SPRING then began very awkwardly and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. Before being allowed to race again, ISLAND SPRING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. STARLIT WARRIOR was slow to begin. GREAT PEGASUS shifted in at the start and hampered YI HAO MU. Approaching the 1200 Metres, LUCKY CHEVALIER was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of MIGHTY K. Near the 1150 Metres, JOHN DORY was steadied away from the heels of CHANCELLOR. Approaching the 1100 Metres, GOLD TARTINI became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MIGHTY K. After the 1000 Metres, LUCKY CHEVALIER and ALP’S GLORY raced tight, resulting in both horses making contact on a number of occasions. Rounding the Home Turn, ALP’S GLORY and KIDCONI bumped as ALP’S GLORY attempted to shift to the outside of YI HAO MU. For some distance in the early part of the Straight, CHANCELLOR had difficulty obtaining clear running behind SOLAR BOY and then near the 150 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of SOLAR BOY. Near the 250 Metres, GREAT PEGASUS was checked when crowded for room between SOLAR BOY and MIGHTY K (G Mossé) which shifted in when racing in restricted room inside LUCKY NISTELROOY (D Whyte) which also shifted in under pressure. G Mossé was reprimanded and advised that he must make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting in and causing interference to other runners. D Whyte was also reprimanded and advised to make more effort to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. At the 200 Metres, GOLD TARTINI was shifted out away from the heels of GREAT PEGASUS, resulting in HO HO DASH being checked. Over the concluding stages, HO HO DASH was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALP’S GLORY. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HO HO DASH had lost its right front plate. Following the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on LUCKY NISTELROOY at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY NISTELROOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of KIDCONI after the race did not show any significant findings. CHANCELLOR, MIGHTY K and LUCKY NISTELROOY were sent for sampling.
