Racing Incident Report

FURTHER DETAIL was withdrawn on 24.1.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left fore tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MASTER RIO (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, FURTHER DETAIL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING APEX, which was fractious in the barriers, began very awkwardly and was slow to begin. MASTER GUNNER was slow to begin. Near the 1200 Metres, SUPREME WINNER was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of GRAND DANCER which got its head on the side and shifted in. After this, GRAND DANCER proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. FIONN’S DRAGON, which was following SUPREME WINNER, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence. Passing the 800 Metres, FIONN’S DRAGON got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SUPREME WINNER. PLENTIFUL was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then approaching the 200 Metres raced in restricted room between JUN HUA and DELTA HEDGE. From after the 250 Metres until near the 100 Metres, MASTER GUNNER was held up for clear running. FIONN’S DRAGON was not able to obtain clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. Throughout the race, WINNING APEX and SUNRISE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of XILAI XIANZI after the race did not show any significant findings. PLENTIFUL, WINNING APEX and DELTA HEDGE were sent for sampling.
