Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that SPICY SIAM had lost its right front plate. This plate was refitted. SPICY SIAM was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. MEDALLIST was checked at the start when crowded for room between REAL DRAGON and DR SUPER, both of which shifted ground. FIERY PATROL was slow to begin and shortly after the start was bumped by JADE PINS which shifted in. Near the 800 Metres, MEDALLIST was steadied away from the heels of REAL DRAGON. For some distance rounding the Home Turn, GREAT PEGASUS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KENSWORTH KID. In the early part of the Straight, FIERY PATROL got its head on the side and hung in. Near the 300 Metres, TITANIUM ALLOY was steadied when disappointed for running between KENSWORTH KID and CRAIG’S PRIDE which got its head on the side and shifted out. Passing the 250 Metres, KENSWORTH KID was steadied when crowded for room between CRAIG’S PRIDE and ROCK’N TYPHOON (Apprentice C Y Ho) which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice Ho was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every effort to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. Near the 150 Metres, CRAIG’S PRIDE, which was giving ground, got its head up and raced ungenerously when checked away from the heels of HIGH RETURN (Apprentice K C Ng) which shifted out. In the circumstances, Apprentice Ng was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in the future. Approaching the 100 Metres, M L Yeung (GREAT PEGASUS) dropped his right rein. Throughout the race, ROCK’N TYPHOON travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of CRAIG’S PRIDE after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, CRAIG’S PRIDE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CRAIG’S PRIDE, DR SUPER and GOOD HONG KONG were sent for sampling.
