Racing Incident Report

TREASURE GOLD was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, FIONN’S DRAGON was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1200 Metres, ALADDIN PRINCE was steadied away from the heels of ELEGANCE KLAMMER which shifted in when barely clear. After being crossed by ELEGANCE KLAMMER near the 1200 Metres, FATBOY SUGAR commenced to race ungenerously and got its head up on a number of occasions. FATBOY SUGAR then continued to race ungenerously for some distance after this and shifted out near the 1000 Metres, resulting in ELEGANCE KLAMMER and LUCKY BRAVO being hampered. VIVA FREEDOM, which was following FATBOY SUGAR, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for some distance. Prior to the 800 Metres, FATBOY SUGAR then got its head on the side and hung out badly and passing the 700 Metres took charge of its rider and shifted out abruptly, resulting in LUCKY BRAVO being hampered. FATBOY SUGAR then continued to hang out and was retired from the event. A veterinary inspection of FATBOY SUGAR after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, FATBOY SUGAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of official barrier trials around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After this, LUCKY BRAVO travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Passing the 700 Metres, TREASURE GOLD was steadied away from the heels of HONEY FORTUNE. Passing the 300 Metres, HONEY FORTUNE was momentarily crowded for room inside CHAMPAGNE DAYS when attempting a narrow run to the inside of that horse. HONEY FORTUNE was then badly held up for clear running over the final 200 Metres and because of this was not able to be properly tested. TREASURE GOLD was not able to obtain clear running over the final 200 Metres and because of this was not able to be properly tested. In the Straight, ELEGANCE KLAMMER got its head on the side and lay in. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SEA THE PEARLS had bled from both nostrils. Following the race, it was noted that FIONN’S DRAGON had blood present at its left nostril. An endoscopic examination of FIONN’S DRAGON revealed no blood to be present in the trachea and therefore the horse was not deemed to have bled. A veterinary inspection of ALADDIN PRINCE after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ALADDIN PRINCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VIVA FREEDOM and FIONN’S DRAGON were sent for sampling.
