Racing Incident Report
EURO POWER was slow to begin. BEST ELEVEN was slow to begin and shortly after the start was badly crowded for room between KEEN WONGCHOY and HORSE OF FLAME which shifted out. DREAM BUILDER was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of QUANTUM POWER which shifted in. From the outside barrier, KEEN WONGCHOY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1000 Metres, EURO POWER was hampered by QUANTUM POWER which shifted out slightly. Passing the 1000 Metres, LUCKY FOLLOW ME proved very difficult to settle and got its head up for some distance when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LONGWAH RISING. For some distance near the 600 Metres, QUANTUM POWER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY FOLLOW ME. Also near the 600 Metres, EURO POWER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUNNY FAY. R Moore (TALLEY CLOSE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SUPREME JEWELLERY, resulting in SUPREME JEWELLERY being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. R Moore was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 18 December 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension is to take immediate effect. For the majority of the race, HORSE OF FLAME travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of HORSE OF FLAME after the race revealed the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, HORSE OF FLAME will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that rounding the Home Turn BEST ELEVEN, which had to be used up to obtain a forward position, was taken out slightly by SUPREME JEWELLERY. He said shortly after entering into the Straight SUPREME JEWELLERY shifted back in towards fence which would allow the opportunity for TALLEY CLOSE to improve its position between SUPREME JEWELLERY and BEST ELEVEN. He said at the time he felt that there was not sufficient room for a horse to improve its position between BEST ELEVEN and SUPREME JEWELLERY, however, after TALLEY CLOSE improved between those horses, it became apparent to him that he should have shifted over to be racing closer to SUPREME JEWELLERY. M Chadwick was advised that he should at all times be attentive to the circumstances of the race and ensure that he rides his mounts in a competitive manner. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EURO POWER had bled from both nostrils and that BEST ELEVEN had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of SUNNY FAY after the race did not show any significant findings. BEST ELEVEN, TALLEY CLOSE and HAPPY FOREVER were sent for sampling.
