Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the Start, Jockey M Du Plessis reported that GIANTS SERAPIS had coughed on a number of occasions on the way to the Start. GIANTS SERAPIS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being loaded, GREAT PEGASUS became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT PEGASUS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. OYSTER began awkwardly. ORIENTAL COURSER was slow to begin. SPICY SHRIMP and CAGA SPIRIT bumped at the start. From wide barriers, TRAVEL KING and SUPER CAGA were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SPICY SHRIMP and ALL THE WINNERS failed to muster speed and then throughout the race both horses travelled wide and without cover. Near the 500 Metres, CAGA SPIRIT got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL THE WINNERS. Approaching the 200 Metres, ROCK’N TYPHOON was shifted out away from the heels of GREY WHIZZ. Over the concluding stages, TRAVEL KING and ROCK’N TYPHOON raced tight inside GIANTS SERAPIS. A veterinary inspection of SPICY SHRIMP after the race did not show any significant findings. ORIENTAL COURSER, GAMEKEEPERS and SUPER CAGA were sent for sampling.
