Racing Incident Report

RAIN OF THUNDER began awkwardly. For the majority of the race, ALICE TOO travelled wide and without cover. After its most recent start, the Veterinary Officer reported that HAPPY WIN had finished distressed. Since that time, the horse had undergone and passed an official veterinary examination. After returning to the unplaced runners’ area following this race, HAPPY WIN collapsed and was distressed for some time before recovering. Trainer K L Man advised that he would meet with the owners of HAPPY WIN early this week to discuss the horse’s future. Mr Man was advised that the Stewards would delay making a ruling over HAPPY WIN’s immediate racing future until after being advised by him of the owners’ intention. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GREEN GLORY, J Lloyd stated that in the early stages he attempted to maintain his position inside FANTASTIC GUY, however, GREEN GLORY was not travelling well enough to be able to do so. He said as far out as the 1300 Metres GREEN GLORY came off the bridle. He said passing the 600 Metres GREEN GLORY had difficulty maintaining its position behind FANTASTIC GUY and then in the Straight did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of GREEN GLORY and ALICE TOO after the race did not show any significant findings. DANESOUTH, KING GALILEO and ROCKET AND GOLD were sent for sampling.
