Racing Incident Report
FAT DRAGON was slow to begin. After the 2000 Metres, INDUSTRIAL LEGEND got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MIRAGE R. Rounding the Home Turn on the first occasion, YOUNG HERO was steadied away from the heels of PROSPERITY. Near the 1600 Metres, PROSPERITY was crowded for room inside MOUNT VICTORY (W M Lai) which shifted in momentarily before being corrected by its rider. YOUNG HERO, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of PROSPERITY and shifted out, resulting in SOLAR WONDER being inconvenienced. W M Lai was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside in future. After this, PROSPERITY was shifted to the outside of MOUNT VICTORY. SOLAR WONDER, which was following PROSPERITY, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse when proving difficult to settle. After the 1200 Metres, INDUSTRIAL LEGEND was left racing wide and without cover. For some distance after the 500 Metres, CHANTILLY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MIRAGE R. At the entrance to the Straight, GREAT LUCK was steadied away from the heels of WINNING PAL (T Angland) which shifted out to obtain clear running when not properly clear. T Angland was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Passing the 300 Metres, HEALTHY MANNER was inconvenienced when disappointed for running between SOLAR WONDER and YOUNG HERO which shifted out. When questioned, J Lloyd stated that passing the winning post on the first occasion MIRAGE R was left racing wide and without cover. He said passing the 1200 Metres the pace of the race slackened and although it was available to him to obtain a position closer to the rail, he felt that MIRAGE R, which was having its first start over 2200 Metres tonight, would have to be used up to go forward at that time as he expected that PROSPERITY would be ridden to ensure that MIRAGE R was not able to get to the front without having to work. He said for this reason he elected to remain racing in a three wide position without cover as the horse was travelling comfortably at this time. When questioned, M Chadwick (GREAT LUCK) stated that from barrier 8 he had been instructed to shift across behind runners and ensure that he was able to obtain cover if at all possible. A veterinary inspection of HEALTHY MANNER after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER STRIKE and WINNING PAL were sent for sampling.
<23/6/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that GREAT LUCK was lame in its left front fetlock on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
