Racing Incident Report

CHATER D’CAT was crowded for room at the start between FINEZZA and HEAR THE ROAR. After this, CHATER D’CAT was taken across behind runners. After the 1200 Metres, MING HOI TREASURE was steadied away from the heels of HELENE WITTY (M Chadwick) which shifted in when not properly clear. M Chadwick was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Approaching the first turn after the 900 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR and FINEZZA raced tight as a result of HEAR THE ROAR shifting out. After this, FINEZZA travelled wide and without cover. TOM’S EIGHTH had difficulty obtaining clear running until after the 300 Metres. For some distance after the 200 Metres, FULL SPIRIT raced in restricted room between JOYFUL WINNER II and DALKAN which, after being taken out slightly by NOBLE DELUXE, then lay out. When questioned, J Lloyd stated that approaching the 1400 Metres he was able to shift GLORY OF INDIA into a position one horse off the fence behind NOBLE DELUXE. He said he was able to maintain this position about a half length behind GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR to his inside. He said at this time it was not possible for him to improve to race on terms with GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR due to GLORY OF INDIA’s relative position behind NOBLE DELUXE. He said passing the 1200 Metres NOBLE DELUXE shifted out slightly which allowed GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR the opportunity to shift away from the fence into the one-off position away from the heels of MING HOI TREASURE which was being steadied. He said this resulted in GLORY OF INDIA being taken in to a three wide position and without cover. He added however that it was not possible for him at this time to improve his position to prevent GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR from shifting ground. After the race, B Prebble (HEAR THE ROAR) reported that his mount became very stirred up behind the barriers and, in his opinion, this may have accounted for the horse’s disappointing performance. He said over the concluding stages HEAR THE ROAR was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of HEAR THE ROAR after the race did not show any significant findings. HEAR THE ROAR, HELENE WITTY and GLORY OF INDIA were sent for sampling.
