Racing Incident Report
WINSOME began awkwardly. BONDI LAD shifted in at the start and bumped LONGWAH SUPREME. From wide barriers, VICTORY MASTER and CITY KING were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 900 Metres, JOYFUL TWINS momentarily raced in restricted room between LONGWAH SUPREME and SUPREME JEWELLERY. Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, LONGWAH SUPREME got its head up and shifted out towards the heels of SUPREME JEWELLERY. Near the 600 Metres and again rounding the Home Turn, JADE MOLLY became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside SUPREME JEWELLERY (D Whyte). D Whyte was advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room to runners to his inside in future. Near the 50 Metres, VICTORY MASTER, which was closing off the race strongly, was shifted out across the heels of SUPREME JEWELLERY to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, GREY WHIZZ travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUPREME JEWELLERY, D Whyte stated that he had to make considerable use of the horse in the early stages to cross runners to his inside and obtain a forward position as instructed. He said after shifting across to race outside JADE MOLLY approaching the 800 Metres, he was obliged to continue to ride SUPREME JEWELLERY along as he did not want JADE MOLLY to gain an advantage over his horse as he felt that that horse would shift away from the fence and take SUPREME JEWELLERY into a three wide position. He said passing the 600 Metres and again rounding the Home Turn SUPREME JEWELLERY became unbalanced after making contact with JADE MOLLY. He added when placed under pressure in the Straight, SUPREME JEWELLERY did not quicken as he expected and despite being ridden out with the whip in the right hand right to the finishing line, SUPREME JEWELLERY was disappointing in its failure to, in his opinion, finish off its race. Mr J Size, the trainer of SUPREME JEWELLERY, stated that the horse had trained on well since its first up success and a forward showing was expected today. He said the only explanation he could offer for the disappointing performance was that its first up run may have taken more out of the horse than he anticipated. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME JEWELLERY after the race did not show any significant findings. Y T Cheng (CITY KING) will be spoken to regarding his riding out of that horse over the concluding stages prior to the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 8 June 2011. A veterinary inspection of JADE MOLLY after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JADE MOLLY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL TWINS after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPREME JEWELLERY, LONGWAH SUPREME and VICTORY MASTER were sent for sampling.
