Racing Incident Report

After being loaded, HAWTHORNE reared and sat down in the gates. HAWTHORNE was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was lame in the right front leg and therefore was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, HAWTHORNE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, HAWTHORNE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. JUN DAO was slow to begin. Approaching the 600 Metres, CHARITY SPIRIT shifted out after being bumped by GOLDEN BAUHINIA, resulting in WINDICATOR RETURNS racing tight between CHARITY SPIRIT and SOLAR UP. JUN DAO, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of WINDICATOR RETURNS, shifted out and bumped FLORA DANICA which itself was proving difficult to settle when being checked away from the heels of SOLAR UP. When bumped by JUN DAO, FLORA DANICA got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of OCEAN WIDE. Passing the 600 Metres, ROCKET PROUD raced in restricted room inside GOLDEN BAUHINIA. Throughout the race, SOLAR UP and OCEAN WIDE travelled wide and without cover and passing the 550 Metres were taken even wider by WINDICATOR RETURNS which got its head on the side and hung out. WINDICATOR RETURNS then continued to hang out rounding the Home Turn. The racing manners of WINDICATOR RETURNS were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WINDICATOR RETURNS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. Near the 50 Metres, ROCKET PROUD was shifted out away from the heels of AMEDEO and in doing so brushed the hindquarters of GOLDEN BAUHINIA. A veterinary inspection of WINDICATOR RETURNS after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR UP after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse`s trachea. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that AMEDEO had lost its left front plate. AMEDEO and EVER BEAUTY were sent for sampling.
