Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, GO STITCH put its head down, began awkwardly and consequently lost ground. WHITE DRAGON was slow to begin. GRANDFIELD, which was slow to begin, was crowded for room at the start between PLANET and THINK BIG which shifted in. After this, GRANDFIELD was ridden along to obtain a more forward position, however, failed to muster speed. From the outside barrier, NEWSWIRE TOO was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 600 Metres, GRANDFIELD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PAPER WINS. Passing the 500 Metres, NEWSWIRE TOO was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MORE THAN YOU WISH. When questioned, Y T Cheng advised that he had been instructed to ride MUTUAL GAIN with cover as was the case at its most recent start from the same draw over the course and distance. He said tonight MUTUAL GAIN began very well and he steadied his mount in the early stages to ensure that he obtained cover. He said near the 1000 Metres he was able to shift in to a position behind DR UNION which itself was steadied to obtain a position behind THINK BIG. He said although this resulted in MUTUAL GAIN racing further back than had been the case at its most recent start, he was satisfied with the positioning of MUTUAL GAIN as he was able to obtain cover and was following DR UNION, a horse he considered to be a strong chance in the race. A veterinary inspection of GRANDFIELD after the race did not show any significant findings. THINK BIG, HEXAGON and DR UNION were sent for sampling.
