Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the barriers, D Beadman expressed concern to the Veterinary Officer regarding ABLE ONE’s action when proceeding to the Start. A veterinary examination of ABLE ONE revealed the horse to be lame in the left hind leg when trotted up. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ABLE ONE. Before being allowed to race again, ABLE ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEETHOVEN was crowded for room at the start by RAJSMAN. Passing the 1200 Metres, FELLOWSHIP was crowded for room inside THUMBS UP which at this time was taken in by A SHIN FORWARD (Y Iwata). Y Iwata was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room in future. Approaching the 1000 Metres, RAJSMAN shifted in away from the heels of BEAUTY FLASH and in doing so made contact with CHATER WAY. After the 1000 Metres, SAHPRESA was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 800 Metres, A SHIN FORWARD was steadied away from the heels of RAJSMAN after attempting to obtain a position inside that horse where there was insufficient room. THUMBS UP, which was following A SHIN FORWARD, was steadied in consequence. Rounding the Home Turn, GOOD BA BA was bumped by THUMBS UP (B Doyle) which shifted out around SAHPRESA to obtain clear running. B Doyle was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. A veterinary inspection of PACO BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BEETHOVEN had lost its left front plate. Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on THUMBS UP at the request of Trainer C Fownes. The Veterinary Officer reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, THUMBS UP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PACO BOY, BEAUTY FLASH and ROYAL BENCH were sent for sampling.
