Racing Incident Report
LUCKY ARMY began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, MAKE IT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1100 Metres, PROJECT RUNWAY shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider, D Whyte, causing ASIAN CITRUS to be crowded for room and lose ground. LUCKY ARMY, which was following PROJECT RUNWAY, was also hampered, shifted out and bumped JUST CHILL. D Whyte reported that after this PROJECT RUNWAY hung in and proved very difficult to ride. The racing manners of PROJECT RUNWAY were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PROJECT RUNWAY will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. Approaching the 200 Metres, MAKE IT was steadied and shifted to the inside of REWARDING STAR when disappointed for running between that horse which shifted out and PROJECT RUNWAY. Then over the concluding stages, MAKE IT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of COSMO SUCCESSOR. Throughout the race, ACHILLES OF TROY travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of JUST CHILL, Apprentice M L Yeung advised that he had been instructed, from a wide barrier, to take JUST CHILL across behind runners as it had raced well when ridden in that manner in the past. He said although the horse had previously been placed in this grade with a heavier weight, in his opinion, JUST CHILL was not suited by the tempo of tonight’s race and did not close off the race with a higher weight. He added that he had been riding JUST CHILL in its track work and, in his opinion, its work had been good. A veterinary inspection of JUST CHILL after the race did not show any significant findings. KING OF HEARTS, ACHILLES OF TROY and BRILLIANT ONE were sent for sampling.
