Racing Incident Report
UNWRITTEN RULE, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 5.6.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). MASTER ELITE was also withdrawn on 5.6.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LEGEND EXPRESS (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, UNWRITTEN RULE and MASTER ELITE will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst in the saddling stalls, it was noted that JACOBEE had lost its left front plate. This plate was refitted. JACOBEE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. HAPPY SEVEN shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in HUSSLER and LEGEND EXPRESS being hampered. ROCKET POWER was slow to begin. Travelling along the Back Straight, MARK UP (Apprentice C Y Ho) proved very difficult to settle. Apprentice Ho reported that due to the manner in which MARK UP was racing, his saddle shifted forward in the middle stages of the race. STILTON was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn. In the early part of the Straight, MARK UP and HUSSLER bumped as MARK UP attempted to shift to the outside of THUNDER DANCING into clear running. After this, MARK UP was shifted to the inside of THUNDER DANCING to obtain clear running and then for some distance approaching the 200 Metres, MARK UP raced in restricted room between THUNDER DANCING and HAPPY SEVEN. Near the 100 Metres, TAKEANOTHERCHANCE was shifted out away from the heels of the tiring HAPPY SEVEN into clear running. When questioned, D Beadman stated that in the early stages of the race as he was shifting JACOBEE across behind runners, JACOBEE struck the heels of MARK UP and dipped. He said after this he balanced JACOBEE, however, near the 1300 Metres when racing tight between ATHENIUM and SUISSE D’OR, he elected to steady JACOBEE rather than ride the horse along in an endeavour to maintain its position. He said JACOBEE then travelled well throughout the race, however, when shifted out in the Straight was somewhat disappointing in the manner in which it closed off the race. He added that, in his opinion, JACOBEE was not suited by today’s track surface. A veterinary inspection of JACOBEE after the race did not show any significant findings. LEGEND EXPRESS, JACOBEE, ATHENIUM and NAPA II were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that MARK UP had sustained cuts to its right hind canon and left hind gaskin and that SUISSE D’OR had lost its left front plate. Before being allowed to race again, MARK UP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
