Racing Incident Report

GALACTIC TACTIC was withdrawn on 25.5.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MY TIME (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, GALACTIC TACTIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY SELECTION began awkwardly. GO FAY FAY shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of ALL THE WINNERS. Then a short distance later, GO FAY FAY and YUAN`S FORTUNE were checked when crowded for room between ALL THE WINNERS and PAR EXCELLENCE which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres, LUCKY SELECTION got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in BRILLIANT ONE being taken wider. Also making the first turn, SINGLE MALT momentarily raced tight inside PAR EXCELLENCE which shifted in after being bumped by MIGHTY WINNER which itself was briefly crowded for room inside SOLAR UP (Apprentice K C Leung). Apprentice Leung was advised to ensure he leaves sufficient room for runners to his inside in future. Passing the 1000 Metres, ALL THE WINNERS was severely checked away from the heels of MIGHTY WINNER and shifted out, making heavy contact with MY TIME which became badly unbalanced. For some distance after this, ALL THE WINNERS continued to be checked away from the heels of MIGHTY WINNER. For some distance passing the 900 Metres, GO FAY FAY got its head up and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SINGLE MALT. Approaching the 800 Metres, LUCKY SELECTION was checked away from the heels of ALL THE WINNERS. Throughout the race, MY TIME travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LUCKY SELECTION, B Doyle stated that his mount was inclined to hang out at various times throughout the race and, in his opinion, at this stage of its career does not handle the Happy Valley circuit. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY SELECTION and SINGLE MALT after the race did not show any significant findings. MY TIME, SOLAR UP and PAR EXCELLENCE were sent for sampling.
