Racing Incident Report
RIVER CAPTAIN, which was difficult to load, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being allowed to race again. JACOBEE was slow to begin. CHINA GOOD was slow to begin and shortly after the start was bumped by GLENEALY ELITE which at this time was taken in by EIGHT PLUS NINE which got its head on the side and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. After this, EIGHT PLUS NINE was ridden along to take up a forward position, however, travelled wide and without cover. Z Purton (PIZZAZZ) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in near the 850 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CHINA HERO, resulting in that horse being checked. Z Purton was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 9 May 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday, 1 May 2010. Over the concluding stages, JACOBEE shifted out under pressure. The performances of EIGHT PLUS NINE and CHINA GOOD, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, EIGHT PLUS NINE and CHINA GOOD will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PIZZAZZ and LUCKY AMORE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted that CHINA HERO had blood present at the left nostril and an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be an official bleeder.
