Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the barriers, it was noted AMAZING AWARD had lost its left front plate. This plate was replaced. AMAZING AWARD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Just prior to the start being effected, SMART FAMILY reared in the barriers and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. SMART FAMILY then finished tailed out. The performance of SMART FAMILY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SMART FAMILY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. THE PRINCE began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN which shifted out slightly. Passing the 500 Metres, ADMIRATION became unbalanced when crowded for room between HINYUEN PALADIN which shifted in slightly and LONDON CHINA TOWN which shifted out. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that after beginning awkwardly CHEETAH BOY shifted out and shortly after the start was steadied away from the hindquarters of HINYUEN PALADIN. He said after this CHEETAH BOY got its head on the side and shifted out away from LONDON CHINA TOWN. He said due to CHEETAH BOY’s immaturity, the horse was reluctant to maintain its position to the outside of LONDON CHINA TOWN and after this did not show early speed. He said throughout the race CHEETAH BOY raced greenly. He added although CHEETAH BOY raced further back in the field than had been expected, he had been somewhat surprised that the horse was able to take up a forward position at its last start as it was not anticipated on that occasion that the horse would be able to lead. A veterinary inspection of THE PRINCE after the race did not show any significant findings. LONDON CHINA TOWN and HINYUEN PALADIN were sent for sampling.
