Racing Incident Report
FORTUNE DRAGON was withdrawn on 16.3.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind). Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FANTASTIC DANCER and FANTASTIC GUY were slow to begin. As the start was effected, BREAKING POINT lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. After this, BREAKING POINT was taken across behind runners. Near the 200 Metres, WONDERFUL GAINS altered course to the outside of HEALTHY BLUEBERRY which at this time shifted in. Just prior to the winning post, CLASSIC ENERGY shifted in and inconvenienced WONDERFUL GAINS. For the majority of the race, FANTASTIC DANCER was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned, B Doyle (FANTASTIC GUY) said that near the 700 Metres FANTASTIC GUY was racing behind FANTASTIC DANCER and to the inside of BREAKING POINT. He said passing the 700 Metres BREAKING POINT was allowed to improve by its rider and although the opportunity existed for FANTASTIC GUY to follow that horse forward, he elected to remain racing behind FANTASTIC DANCER as FANTASTIC GUY is one-paced and would not have been able to sprint with BREAKING POINT at this time. He said had he elected to follow BREAKING POINT, FANTASTIC GUY would have been left racing to the outside of FANTASTIC DANCER and as such would have been obliged to race in a four wide position without cover. A veterinary inspection of FANTASTIC DANCER after the race did not show any significant findings. FANTASTIC GUY, CLASSIC ENERGY and WONDERFUL GAINS were sent for sampling.
