Racing Incident Report
Just prior to the start being effected, WIN WIN became fractious and as the start was effected lifted its front feet off the ground and as a result lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, WIN WIN will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. MIGHTY FEELING began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ELECTRONIC DRAGON. ELECTRONIC DRAGON then shifted out abruptly away from MIGHTY FEELING and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of OVER THE MOON, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Throughout the race, ELECTRONIC DRAGON had its head on the side and hung out. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that after beginning well, CALIFORNIA OFFICER did not show any early speed and despite him niggling at the horse to stay in touch, it lost ground on the bulk of the field. He said the horse raced greenly in the early and middle stages, got its head on the side and hung out. He added he commenced to ride his mount along passing the 600 Metres to have it make ground, however, it did not immediately improve its position. He said passing the 300 Metres the horse commenced to make some ground, however, it was not until the concluding stages of the race that it travelled strongly and finished off the race well. He stated, in his opinion, the horse would be better suited by distances of longer than that of today’s race. A veterinary inspection of FLY HIGH after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a mild amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. SUPREME TAIJI and CHEVALIER KING were sent for sampling.
