Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, TREASURABLE bounded in the air and lost ground. On jumping, TATTENHALL DELIGHT lost ground after shifting out and bumping THE REAL MCCOY. Shortly after the start, ANIMATION, which was shifting in, became unbalanced and lost ground after being bumped by MASTER GREEN. After this, ANIMATION failed to muster speed. Also shortly after the start, KIMBERLEY was steadied when crowded for room between ANIMATION and SHAXI BABY which was carried in by MIGHTY SUN (H W Lai) which shifted ground. H W Lai was told to exercise more care. In the Straight, JADE DANCER hung in. For the major part of the race, TATTENHALL DELIGHT travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Mr D J Hall, the trainer of JADE DANCER, said he had instructed Apprentice M L Yeung, the horse’s rider, to go forward in the early stages. He said it was anticipated MIGHTY SUN might cross from a wide barrier in search of the lead and if this were to happen JADE DANCER should allow it to cross to avoid being caught in a speed battle. He said today was a second start for JADE DANCER since the blinkers were removed from the horse’s gear. He said he had removed the blinkers in the hope that JADE DANCER would travel more kindly in the run because it had disappointed him in the manner in which it had been finishing its races off when leading. Following the race, Y T Cheng (ANIMATION) reported his mount had previously trialed well on the All Weather surface, however, he noted the horse to be breathing harder during the race than it has previously done. ANIMATION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ANIMATION after the race did not show any significant findings. FULL BLESSINGS, THE REAL MCCOY and MIGHTY SUN were sent for sampling.
