Racing Incident Report

The Stewards today interviewed Mr K L Man, trainer of WONDER KID, as to the circumstances regarding the horse which had been entered for this race being treated with Vetalog on the afternoon of 9 March 2009. Entries for this racemeeting closed at 10:00 am on 9 March 2009. WONDER KID was a pre-declaration withdrawal by order of the Stewards and was withdrawn on the afternoon of 9 March 2009. Vetalog is a prohibited substance as defined by the Rules. Mr Man pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 50(2) in that he is responsible for all matters pertaining to the running of his stable including stable routine which resulted in WONDER KID receiving treatment after being entered. Mr Man was fined $10,000. FOREVER RICHES began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LITTLE BIG BOY. From wide barriers, JOYFUL YEARS, OSCAR PRINCE and DECAGONAL were taken back. After the 1200 Metres, MASTER MASTER was steadied away from the heels of CELESTIAL WONDER. E Saint-Martin (SUPER BOBO) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of ENERGETIC BOY, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. E Saint-Martin was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 6 April 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday 28 March 2009. When giving ground after the 200 Metres, PURE ALPHA was steadied while awkwardly placed between CELESTIAL WONDER and LIGHTNING MOUNT. In the Straight, DECAGONAL hung in and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, SPEED OF LIGHT travelled wide and without cover. G Mossé (CELESTIAL WONDER), 5th placegetter, was reminded of his responsibility to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where possible. PURE ALPHA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PURE ALPHA after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER BOBO and LIGHTNING MOUNT were sent for sampling.
