Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, DASHING THUNDER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NOBLE SILENCE and MASTER GUNNER were slow to begin. HOLD HANDS began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SOMETHING SPECIAL was steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER CHARGE (F Coetzee) which shifted in when not quite clear. F Coetzee was advised to exercise care. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DIAMOND ERA was steadied when tightened for room between DORDENMA which shifted in slightly and SOMETHING SPECIAL which shifted out away from the heels of SUPER CHARGE. No action was taken. At the 1300 Metres, NOBLE SILENCE, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of DIAMOND ERA. In the early and middle stages, DASHING THUNDER travelled wide and without cover. In the middle stages, DORDENMA proved difficult to settle and at the 800 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of SOMETHING SPECIAL. After this, DORDENMA, which was racing without cover, was allowed to improve, then making the turn at the 600 Metres was carried wider by UNIQUE SPEED. After the 200 Metres, HOLD HANDS was steadied when disappointed for running inside SUPER CHARGE, then at the 100 Metres was checked when disappointed for running inside SUPER CHARGE. As a consequence, HOLD HANDS was not fully tested. In the Straight, SOMETHING SPECIAL hung out and shifted wider on the track while being ridden out. HOLD HANDS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HOLD HANDS after the race did not show any significant findings. BILLION and DORDENMA were sent for sampling.
