Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, F Coetzee (ENCHANTED) reported that a lead horse had kicked his mount on the left hind leg on the way to the Start. ENCHANTED was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. PLAN EX and TRULLI were slow to begin. BOOMING CITY was a little slow to begin, then lost further ground after being steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BULLISH WIN which shifted in. Near the 1000 Metres, GILDED FLIGHT got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of WIN AGAIN. Approaching the 200 Metres, GILDED FLIGHT got its head on the side and shifted wider on the track. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, ENCHANTED and FLY ME TO THE MOON were held up and unable to obtain clear running. Over the final 200 Metres, SAFETY FIRST hung in and after the 100 Metres was steadied away from the heels of THUNDER DANCING. When questioned regarding the poor performance of WIN AGAIN, D Beadman said his mount travelled comfortably in the run, however, on straightening commenced to get its head up. He said in the Straight WIN AGAIN failed to close the race off. He said in his opinion WIN AGAIN raced “flat”, however, he did note the horse had been somewhat disappointing in the manner in which it had finished its recent races off. WIN AGAIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WIN AGAIN after the race did not show any significant findings. GILDED FLIGHT, PLAN EX and THUNDER DANCING were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 2 July 2008)
WIN AGAIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. WIN AGAIN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, WIN AGAIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
