Racing Incident Report
MASTER MASTER bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, LOHAN failed to muster speed. At the 1600 Metres, TRAVEL LEADER got its head up when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SABRE AND GOLD. After the 1600 Metres, SWEET BABY was bumped by ON SHAN BRAVE. Prior to straightening, EMBRACES was steadied away from the heels of TRAVEL LEADER. From the 400 Metres until the 300 Metres, AMAZING CHOICE was held up and unable to obtain clear running. In the Straight, EMBRACES hung out and at the 300 Metres bumped with NASA PEARL. At the 200 Metres, EMBRACES was checked when disappointed for running between NASA PEARL which shifted in and TRAVEL LEADER which shifted out. No action was taken. Inside the final 50 Metres, D Whyte (AMAZING CHOICE) dropped his right rein. After the 50 Metres, TRAVEL LEADER was momentarily steadied away from the heels of NASA PEARL. B Prebble (SABRE AND GOLD) reported in the early stages of the race the horse did not stride out and felt unbalanced in its action. He said because of this near the 1600 Metres he looked down at the horse’s front legs. He said after this when left racing wide and without cover he allowed SABRE AND GOLD to stride forward, however, he was not able to clear runners inside and raced outside the lead. He said after straightening he placed SABRE AND GOLD under pressure and the horse did not respond to his riding, then after the 300 Metres when giving ground shortened up badly in its action and because of this he did not ride his mount out to the end of the race. SABRE AND GOLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SABRE AND GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SABRE AND GOLD was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SABRE AND GOLD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HOLIGAN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HOLIGAN after the race did not show any significant findings. JOLLY WONGCHOY, AMAZING CHOICE and LOHAN were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported KING’S COURT was lame in the right front leg and EMBRACES had lost its right hind plate. Before being allowed to race again, KING’S COURT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 2 July 2008)
SABRE AND GOLD, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SABRE AND GOLD was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C H Yip this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have sustained an injury to the right front tendon. As previously advised, SABRE AND GOLD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
