Racing Incident Report
KEY WINNER was fractious in the barriers, resulting in the front gates opening. KEY WINNER was removed from the stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, KEY WINNER will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. With the intention of being ridden in a forward position, KING OF SHAVER was ridden along in the early stages, travelled wide and without cover and passing the 1200 Metres was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, PURE ALPHA, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of KING OF FISH (G Mossé) which shifted in when not clear. G Mossé was advised to exercise more care. Passing the 800 Metres, LIGHTNING SPEED was left racing wide and without cover. O Doleuze (ADD THE FUN) said he was instructed from the wide barrier to ride ADD THE FUN quietly in the early stages. He said due to the horse’s big weight of 133 lbs and the fact that horses had been able to make up ground from the rear, it was felt it would be advantageous to ride the horse quietly in order to have the horse finish the race off. He said ADD THE FUN came on and off the bridle throughout the race and at times was quite difficult to settle. He said because of this ADD THE FUN was not able to finish the race off. ADD THE FUN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ADD THE FUN after the race did not show any significant findings. LIGHTNING SPEED, CHAMPION LAD and BLISS STAR were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported KING OF FISH had lost its right front plate, was lame in its right front leg and had sustained a cut wound to the left hind cannon. Before being allowed to race again, KING OF FISH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
