Racing Incident Report
JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of THUNDER FLASH, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. TOP TOP LIGHT began awkwardly. In the early stages, THUNDER FLASH proved very difficult to settle and pulled its way forward. Also in the early stages, SUPER CHARGE failed to muster speed. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, GRAND STORE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of DEMINER. Making the Home Turn and in the Straight, HONEST TREASURE hung out. In the early part of the Straight, TOP TOP LIGHT hung out. Also in the early part of the Straight, GRAND STORE, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied away from the heels of DEMINER. For the majority of the Home Straight, PICKETT was unable to obtain clear running and after the 200 Metres endeavoured to improve towards the inside of DEMINER which at this time shifted in. Because of this, PICKETT was disappointed for running, checked and in turn caused inconvenience on its inside to REUNION which was checked when giving ground. When questioned regarding his riding out of PICKETT over the concluding stages, D Whyte explained after obtaining clear running over the final 100 Metres he commenced to ride his mount along initially hands and heels and he then used the whip in his right hand and continued to ride his mount out to the end of the race. D Beadman (GO BRITANNIA) reported after the race on jumping his saddle shifted to the left hand side. GO BRITANNIA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported on return to scale he noted the saddle on GO BRITANNIA had shifted to the left hand side. PICKETT, GRAND STORE and JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported HONEST TREASURE had bled from both nostrils and REUNION had sustained a wound to its left hind cannon.
