Racing Incident Report
TELECOM TYCOON was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind). Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM TYCOON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLD GEM, which was fractious in its stall, was slow to begin. As the gates opened, CHALLENGER lifted its front feet off the ground and as a consequence lost ground. For the major part of the race, SILVERBIRD travelled wide and without cover. B Prebble (NATURAL ECHO) said he was not issued firm instructions on how the horse should be ridden, however, from a favourable draw he decided the horse should go forward from the start. He said he anticipated BAUHINIA would lead the race, however, when he crossed towards the outside of that horse after the 1600 Metres, he could see its rider was content to allow NATURAL ECHO to continue on into the lead. B Prebble said because of this he continued to go forward and near the 1200 Metres crossed to the rail and was then able to dictate the pace of the race to suit himself. Apprentice K T Yeung (KNIGHT TEMPLAR) said after entering the Straight he placed his mount under pressure, however, it failed to respond. He said approaching the 200 Metres KNIGHT TEMPLAR commenced to give ground and felt to him to shorten in its action quite noticeably. He said because of this over about the final 200 Metres he eased his mount down and did not ride it out to the end of the race. Before being allowed to race again, KNIGHT TEMPLAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DANEPRINT and KNIGHT TEMPLAR were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DANEPRINT and KNIGHT TEMPLAR after the race did not show any significant findings. GOLD GEM, NATURAL ECHO and CHALLENGER were sent for sampling.
