Racing Incident Report
NAPA proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, NAPA will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. DASHING WINNER, AMAZING VENTURE and DIAMOND SUPREME were slow to begin. On jumping, DEERFIELD was crowded for room between GANBARIA and BEJEWELED. LUCKY WORLD began awkwardly. After the 400 Metres, PERFECT TIME was bumped and carried in by CLEMENT ELITE which at this time shifted to the inside of NAPA which commenced to give ground. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied the riding of G Boss (CLEMENT ELITE) over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he nonetheless was reminded of his responsibility to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the winning post where circumstances permit. When questioned regarding his riding after the 800 Metres, P H Lo said it was anticipated the horse would not have the pace in a 1000 Metre race to obtain a forward position and would travel about midfield. He said TRIUMPHANT GLORY began well and was able to obtain a forward position without being made use of. He said after the 700 Metres for him to have maintained his position on the outside of LUCKY WORLD he would have had to commence to ride his mount along and he believed to do so at this stage of the race would not be in the best interest of his mount. He said because of this LUCKY WORLD crossed in front of him and he then experienced difficulty obtaining clear running until after the 200 Metres. P H Lo was told in similar circumstances and particularly in races of this nature he would be expected to make a greater effort to maintain his position. O Doleuze (BEJEWELED) said over the 1000 Metres today he was required to make use of the horse throughout in an endeavour to obtain a forward position. He said as a result of this BEJEWELED was not able to finish the race off and was on the face of it disappointing. He did point out in the lead up to today’s race he had ridden BEJEWELED in a barrier trial over 1200 Metres and the horse had trialed impressively when being ridden from behind. He said the manner in which BEJEWELED raced today indicated to him that it would be better suited racing over a distance of further than 1000 Metres where it would be able to be ridden more quietly. BEJEWELED, MAGIC CHARIOT and FLYING KENNY were sent for sampling.
