Racing Incident Report
On jumping, DECAGONAL bumped with ROCKET AND GOLD. In the early stages, SURE HERO and DECAGONAL proved very difficult to settle. Near the 1100 Metres, ROCKET AND GOLD was steadied and taken back after initially being carried wider by BAJAN BELL which when proving difficult to settle was steadied away from the heels of SURE HERO and shifted out. At the 400 Metres, LIVERBIRD was shifted to the outside of BAJAN BELL to obtain clear running. After the 400 Metres, SURE HERO, which was giving ground, was momentarily crowded for room outside ABLE KNIGHT which at this time was shifted to the outside of DECAGONAL into clear running. Over the concluding stages, when giving ground, DECAGONAL hung in badly. S K Sit (LIVERBIRD) said he had been instructed to follow BAJAN BELL which had drawn immediately to his inside in the run. He said because of this after beginning well he steadied LIVERBIRD and took his mount to a position behind BAJAN BELL in accordance with his instructions. DECAGONAL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DECAGONAL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. BAJAN BELL and ROCKET AND GOLD were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported BAJAN BELL had lost its left front plate.
