Racing Incident Report
LASER TIGER was withdrawn on 23.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DR POSSI. Before being allowed to race again, LASER TIGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the Start, S K Sit, the rider of LUMINOUS, expressed concern over the horse's action. LUMINOUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Also after arriving at the Start, E Saint-Martin expressed concern over the action of SHY BALDY. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer and after consulting the rider said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. A Delpech expressed concern over the action of SUPER MUSIC after arriving at the Start. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. BE MY SONG began awkwardly and then in the early and middle stages raced ungenerously and on a number of occasions got its head up. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, STEP TO WIN proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MELLIFLUOUS. Near the 800 Metres, DR POSSI was bumped and crowded for room inside BE ME SONG which got its head up and shifted in. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SUPER MUSIC, which was racing wide and without cover, was allowed to stride forward. Prior to straightening, DR POSSI was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BE MY SONG. Over the concluding stages, BROWN BEAR had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race. Also over the concluding stages, BE MY SONG was not able to obtain clear running. In the Straight, MELLIFLUOUS hung in and just prior to the winning post was crowded for room between SUPER MUSIC and STEP TO WIN which shifted in away from O'REILLY RALLY. E Saint-Martin (SHY BALDY) said he had been instructed to ride the horse which had previously shown itself to race keenly in a position with cover if possible. He said SHY BALDY began well, he immediately took hold of the horse in an endeavour to shift across to a position with cover, however, SHY BALDY raced keenly and proved difficult for him to ride. He said because of this he was not able to shift to a position closer to the rail in the early stages and continued to race wide on the track. He said making the turn at the 800 Metres he endeavoured to restrain SHY BALDY to obtain a position behind O'REILLY RALLY, however, because of the manner in which SHY BALDY was racing, he was not able to do so and the horse continued to travel wide. He said in the Straight the action of SHY BALDY was of concern to him and as the horse was not travelling well, he did not ride it out as he normally would. The performance of SHY BALDY, which finished at the rear, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SHY BALDY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O'REILLY RALLY and MONEY MAN were sent for sampling.
