Racing Incident Report
Prior to being saddled, SUPER HONEY had its left hind plate refitted. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. TREASURE RAIDERS began awkwardly and lost ground. ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. CHATER POWER began awkwardly and stumbled. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, TREASURE RAIDERS was steadied when awkwardly placed inside THE WITCH'S BROOM which was racing awkwardly, hung in and was reluctant to hold its position to the inside of ENGINEERING WONDER. Near the 800 Metres, SUPER HONEY was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BODACIOUS which at this time was carried in slightly by CHATER POWER. No action was taken. After the 800 Metres, DIVINE TOUCH shifted in away from CHATER POWER and bumped the running rail. AMO made the turn at the 600 Metres awkwardly, got its head up and was checked away from the heels of ENGINEERING WONDER. After being crossed by CHATER POWER at the 600 Metres, DIVINE TOUCH was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse and shifted out. Shortly after this, DIVINE TOUCH was checked when disappointed for running between CHATER POWER and BODACIOUS which held its ground. In this incident, BODACIOUS became unbalanced after being bumped by DIVINE TOUCH. For the major part of the race, FREEBIRD travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The performance of THE WITCH'S BROOM, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, THE WITCH'S BROOM will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned about the poor performance of KINGSTON WINNER, K S Yu said in tonight's track conditions the horse did not show sufficient speed to obtain a forward position. He said he continued to ride KINGSTON WINNER along and because of this the horse failed to finish the race off. KINGSTON WINNER, THE WITCH'S BROOM and FREEBIRD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KINGSTON WINNER and THE WITCH'S BROOM after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, FREEBIRD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being permitted to race again, FREEBIRD will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BODACIOUS and INDUSTRIAL MARVEL were sent for sampling.
