Racing Incident Report
MY LANSON was withdrawn on 8.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right fore suspensory). Before being allowed to race again, MY LANSON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ROCKALOT began awkwardly, lost a considerable amount of ground and then tailed out in the race. The performance of ROCKALOT was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ROCKALOT will have to perform competitively and to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial. RED WINE HONEY was slow to begin. After the 1200 Metres, KING ACRYLIC, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SUPER SURPRISE. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, RED WINE HONEY, which was racing keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DECAGONAL. After the 400 Metres, DECAGONAL was steadied when disappointed for running between KING ACRYLIC and SOUND OF SILENCE which at this time shifted out. After this incident, DECAGONAL continued to be held up for running until near the 200 Metres. Near the 200 Metres, CAPABILITY was steadied to avoid the heels of CHAMPION PIONEER which shifted in when barely clear. At the 100 Metres, KING ACRYLIC was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of SOUND OF SILENCE which at this time shifted out. SOUND OF SILENCE again shifted out in the run to the line. At the 50 Metres, DECAGONAL got its head on the side and shifted in away from KING ACRYLIC. For the major part of the race, CAPABILITY travelled wide and without cover. E Saint-Martin (FIRST KNIGHT) explained approaching the 600 Metres he was awkwardly placed between RED WINE HONEY and CHAMPION PIONEER. He said at this time FIRST KNIGHT was reluctant to hold its position. He said after the 600 Metres he checked FIRST KNIGHT when that horse was crowded for room between RED WINE HONEY which shifted out slightly when awkwardly placed close to the heels of the runners in front and CHAMPION PIONEER which shifted in when also awkwardly placed close to the heels of CAPABILITY. When questioned regarding the improved performance of SOUND OF SILENCE, Trainer C H Yip explained the horse raced over 2200 Metres two starts ago and did not run out the distance. He said he ran SOUND OF SILENCE over that distance as the horse in the past had performed best in slowly run races and he felt the tempo of that race would suit the horse. He said its most recent start was on the All Weather Track over 1650 Metres and from the outside barrier in a quickly run race, SOUND OF SILENCE was caught racing wide and without cover and as a consequence performed poorly. He said today from a more favourable barrier SOUND OF SILENCE was able to obtain a forward position in what was a slowly run race and in his opinion this accounted for the horse's improved performance. ROCKET POWER, SOUND OF SILENCE and SUPER IDEAL were sent for sampling.
