Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, GALACTIC TACTIC became fractious, reared and sat down. GALACTIC TACTIC was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of GALACTIC TACTIC. Before being allowed to race again, GALACTIC TACTIC will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after being boxed, DIM SUM became fractious and reared, dislodging D Nikolic, its rider. DIM SUM was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was lame in the left hind leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DIM SUM. Before being allowed to race again, DIM SUM will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, PICKETT was bumped by MULTI MILLIONS which shifted out. SHANGDONG GENERAL and SAVUTE were a little slow to begin. Then shortly afterwards, SAVUTE lost further ground when crowded for room between SHANGDONG GENERAL which was carried out by KIMBERLEY MINES and KINGS CROSS which shifted in. At the 800 Metres, KIMBO KID was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SHANGDONG GENERAL which shifted in when barely clear. In the middle stages, SHANGDONG GENERAL hung out. On straightening, MAGIC TEMPLE was steadied and shifted to the outside of MONEY MAN into clear running. Apprentice K L Chui (KIMBO KID) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a good position where it was comfortable which was the same in recent starts. He said today when a number of runners became fractious in the barriers, KIMBO KID also became fractious. He said in the early stages he did not ride KIMBO KID along vigorously as the horse generally shows natural speed. He said KIMBO KID obtained a position behind the lead in the race, however, at the 600 Metres came under pressure, did not respond to his riding and was most disappointing. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MONEY MAN, D Whyte said at no stage did the horse travel as he thought it should. He said in the early stages he had to make use of MONEY MAN to maintain his position, then at the 400 Metres he was not travelling well enough to hold PICKETT in a position behind the leader. He said from that point on MONEY MAN failed to respond to his riding. KIMBO KID and MONEY MAN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KIMBO KID and MONEY MAN after the race did not show any significant findings. MAGIC TEMPLE and PICKETT were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SHANGDONG GENERAL had sustained a cut to the right front cannon.
