Racing Incident Report
As the start was effected, GOLDEN BALL lifted its front feet and consequently was slow to begin. GOLDEN BALL was then hampered for a short distance after the start when VICTORY TREASURE was taken out by LUCKY CHAMPION. DREAM HORSE began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in VIKING TOR and ROYAL FALCON being hampered. CELEBRATION was slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, ROYAL FALCON was steadied away from the heels of VICTORY TREASURE. Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, VIKING TOR was steadied when crowded for room inside WADADELIGHT (Apprentice P H Lo) which shifted in when not clear. LUCKY CHAMPION and SYDNEY EXPRESS, which were following, were hampered in consequence. Apprentice Lo was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to be sufficiently clear before shifting ground. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, DREAM HORSE shifted in and bumped the running rail. Near the 450 Metres, ROYAL FALCON was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SUMMERVILLE POWER. Approaching the 200 Metres, DREAM HORSE, which was hanging out whilst weakening rapidly, and VIKING TOR were both steadied when crowded for room inside ROCKET WIN (B Prebble) which shifted in. Having in mind all the circumstances of this case, B Prebble was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances when his mounts commence to shift ground, he must immediately stop riding and straighten and afford runners to his inside sufficient racing room. When questioned, Apprentice K T Yeung (FUJIAN PRINCE) stated due to the horse's wide barrier he was instructed to take the horse back in an endeavour to obtain cover. He added it was felt had FUJIAN PRINCE been ridden in a forward position, the horse would have been obliged to race wide and without cover. He added FUJIAN PRINCE began well, he immediately observed KING HESPERUS being hard ridden on his inside to take up a position and for this reason he felt it was in the best interest of FUJIAN PRINCE to allow that horse to go forward of him and for him to shift in behind KING HESPERUS to obtain cover. WADADELIGHT and CELEBRATION were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WADADELIGHT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, WADADELIGHT will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, CELEBRATION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CELEBRATION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUMMERVILLE POWER and ROCKET WIN were sent for sampling.
