Racing Incident Report

Mr A T Millard (GOLDEN CARE) was fined $2,000 for failing to ensure he or his representative was present when Apprentice K T Yeung weighed out to ride GOLDEN CARE. Mr K L Tsui, assistant trainer to Mr Millard, was advised a report on this matter would be forwarded to Stables Management. CONGRATS was slow to begin. At the 400 Metres, KINGIFLY was steadied and shifted to the outside of NOBLE CRUSADER to obtain clear running. At the 300 Metres, FIFTY FIFTY was checked when crowded for room between TCHAIKOVSKY which shifted out slightly and BOOM (Apprentice K L Chui) which shifted in. In the circumstances, Apprentice Chui was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. At the 100 Metres, BOOM and ABLE CHOICE raced tight after ABLE CHOICE shifted out after making contact with TCHAIKOVSKY. Over the concluding stages, HARB hung in. B Prebble (GIGA SPIRITS) said shortly after the start he became concerned with the horse's action as it was not striding out as he felt it should. He said in his opinion the action of GIGA SPIRITS worsened as the race progressed. He did say following the race GIGA SPIRITS did not show any signs of soreness when returning to scale. GIGA SPIRITS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GIGA SPIRITS after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GIGA SPIRITS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BULB KING and FRIENDLY GAINS were sent for sampling.
