Racing Incident Report
THE GOODIES was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CHATER SILK, which had been taken back, was steadied when crowded for room between ELFHELM and CLASSIC REUNION. At the 1100 Metres, EQUATOR KID was checked when crowded for room inside MULLAAD which was carried in by NICE KING which after initially being carried in by FOREVER FORTUNE which was taken in slightly by MAINLAND SHUTTLE then got its head up and shifted in abruptly away from the heels of MARIBEAU which was steadied away from the heels of CLASSIC REUNION. In the opinion of the Stewards, there were several contributing factors to this incident, therefore no action was taken. Throughout the race, ELFHELM travelled wide and without cover, after the 1000 Metres shifted in and caused some tightening to JADE DRAGONFLY on its inside, then making the turn at the 800 Metres got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped JADE DRAGONFLY, causing both horses to become unbalanced. FOREVER FORTUNE, which was racing to the inside of JADE DRAGONFLY, was steadied in consequence when also racing close to the heels of MARIBEAU. After the 700 Metres, NICE KING lost ground when following FOREVER FORTUNE which at this time was racing keenly and being steadied away from the heels of MARIBEAU. Making the Home Turn, CALIFORNIA LUCK hung out. Over the last 100 Metres, EQUATOR KID was not able to obtain clear running and therefore was not ridden out to the end of the race. In the Straight, CLASSIC REUNION hung in. MARIBEAU, STILTON and CLASSIC REUNION were sent for sampling.
