Racing Incident Report

NASA PEARL began awkwardly. On jumping, GOLD FIELD was bumped by JUBILOSO which shifted in. WIN PRACTITIONER was slow to begin. After the 1700 Metres, COURAGEOUSHEART was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of JUBILOSO which shifted in after being bumped by LE ROSSIGNOL which in turn was bumped by TACTIC KING. After the 900 Metres, FIRST BABY was steadied away from the heels of TACTIC KING which shifted in when not quite clear. On straightening, FIRST BABY, which had been having difficulty obtaining clear running, bumped COURAGEOUSHEART when shifting to the outside of TACTIC KING. At the 300 Metres, TACTIC KING was steadied when disappointed for running between FIRST BABY and LE ROSSIGNOL. Also at the 300 Metres, CARRY GOOD NEWS was steadied away from the heels of COURAGEOUSHEART. After the 200 Metres, COURAGEOUSHEART was crowded for room outside FIRST BABY. Also after the 200 Metres, JUBILOSO was checked to avoid the heels of WIN PRACTITIONER (B Prebble) which at this time shifted out abruptly. As the Stewards were satisfied B Prebble had stopped riding and endeavoured to straighten his mount, no action was taken, however, B Prebble was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to ensure he did his utmost to relieve pressure before re-commencing riding his mount with the whip. At the 50 Metres, TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND was steadied away from the heels of WIN PRACTITIONER. At the same time, FIRST BABY was steadied away from the heels of TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND. At the finish, NASA PEARL was crowded for room outside JUBILOSO which was carried out by MASTERY. In the Straight, FIRST BABY hung in and TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND hung out. When questioned regarding the improved performance of SUPER DANA, Trainer A Lee said he was unable to offer an explanation. He said SUPER DANA, which was today having its 18th start of the season, had been sound. He said because of today's wet track conditions, he asked Apprentice H W Lai to take advantage of its favourable draw and endeavour to lead the race at a tempo to suit. He said in the past SUPER DANA had performed well when being able to dictate the tempo of the race. SUPER DANA and WIN PRACTITIONER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported NASA PEARL had lost its left front plate.
