Racing Incident Report
PACKING ANGEL was slow to begin and as a result was checked when crowded for room between ESPERANZA which shifted out and GENERAL DANSKE which after knuckling on jumping shifted in. From a wide barrier, VICTORY TREASURE was taken across behind runners. After the 1400 Metres, SAVUTE was steadied when crowded for room inside FREEBIRD which at this time was carried in slightly by GENERAL DANSKE which in turn was carried in by HONEST TREASURE. At the 500 Metres, PACKING ANGEL was crowded for room between MULTO EXPRESSO and VICTORY TREASURE (O Doleuze) which shifted to the outside of KING HESPERUS. O Doleuze was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. FREEBIRD hung out making the Home Turn. On straightening, PACKING ANGEL was steadied when awkwardly placed between VICTORY TREASURE and MULTO EXPRESSO. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, PACKING ANGEL was held up and unable to improve when racing behind ESPERANZA and inside the heels of MULTO EXPRESSO. After the 200 Metres, LUCKY CHAMPION, which was closing the race off, was steadied and shifted to the outside of SAVUTE to continue going forward. O Doleuze (VICTORY TREASURE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at about the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KING HESPERUS, causing that horse to be checked and lose its rightful running. O Doleuze was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 28 May 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 20 May 2007. In addition, O Doleuze was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. After the 100 Metres, FUJIAN PRINCE hung out. In the Straight, GENERAL DANSKE hung out. For the major part of the race, ESPERANZA travelled wide and without cover. PACKING ANGEL and GENERAL DANSKE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PACKING ANGEL after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, GENERAL DANSKE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood and mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GENERAL DANSKE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HONEST TREASURE and FUJIAN PRINCE were sent for sampling.
