Racing Incident Report
FIRST DEGREE began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, STRAIGHT VICTORY, which had been slow to begin, was checked when crowded for room between GENERAL KINGY and OURAJA which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly. At the 600 Metres, DAYLIGHT EXPRESS was checked when crowded for room while awkwardly placed between ISLAND SUNRISE and OURAJA which shifted in slightly. No action was taken. At the 200 Metres, PERFECT TREASURE, which for a considerable distance had been experiencing difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted out after being disappointed for a run between TOP STITCH and HAPPY SUNDAY. After the 200 Metres, C K Tong (GENERAL KINGY) momentarily dropped his right rein. At the 50 Metres, OURAJA was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GENERAL KINGY. When questioned, E Saint-Martin (KEEN FLYER) said because of the anticipated speed horses in the race being drawn to his inside, he was instructed to go forward and travel either with the lead or just behind the lead. He said KEEN FLYER began satisfactorily, but did knuckle. He said near the 600 Metres he was able to shift across and momentarily obtain a position with cover behind HAPPY SUNDAY. He said however after the 600 Metres KEEN FLYER commenced to hang out and again shifted to a position to be with cover. He said in the Straight he ensured KEEN FLYER was balanced before commencing to ride the horse out. He said KEEN FLYER failed to finish the race off as he had hoped. HAPPY SUNDAY and PERFECT TREASURE were sent for sampling.
