Racing Incident Report

WIKI WIKI was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, WIKI WIKI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPER POWER was slow to begin. On jumping, DILIGENT stumbled. Shortly after the start, CENTURY SUPER STAR raced tight inside STEEL NERVES which on jumping was bumped by BEAUTIFUL CHOICE which shifted in. For the major part of the race, PRIME TARGET travelled greenly. Also for the major part of the race, GOLD GEM travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Apprentice K L Chui (CALIFORNIA HEART) said he had been asked to follow the pace in the race. He said on jumping KEEN FLYER which had drawn to his inside began better, he endeavoured to follow that horse forward, however, CALIFORNIA HEART failed to respond to his riding. He said he continued to ride CALIFORNIA HEART along, however, the horse failed to muster pace and dropped to a position at the rear. He said in the Home Straight CALIFORNIA HEART again failed to respond to his riding and was most disappointing. CALIFORNIA HEART and GOLD GEM were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA HEART and GOLD GEM after the race did not show any significant findings. SURE JOY and STEEL NERVES were sent for sampling.
