Racing Incident Report
KING HESPERUS was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, KING HESPERUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FAT DRAGON, which had been intended to be ridden with cover, was a little slow to begin and then shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room between PRESENT TREASURE and CAGA BOY. VICTORY TREASURE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DASHING THUNDER. Shortly after this, DASHING THUNDER and VICTORY TREASURE lost ground when crowded for room between CLASSIC REUNION and HONEST TREASURE which on jumping stumbled and shifted out. CITY SURFER began awkwardly. After entering the Back Straight, PRESENT TREASURE, which was hanging out, shifted to a position to be racing without cover and was then allowed to stride forward. At the 500 Metres, VICTORY TREASURE got its head on the side, shifted in towards MAGIC TEMPLE and as a consequence lost ground. On straightening, VICTORY TREASURE was steadied and shifted to the outside of ESPERANZA. Throughout the race, WEALTHY TREASURE travelled wide and without cover. The performances of WEALTHY TREASURE and CITY SURFER, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WEALTHY TREASURE and CITY SURFER will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ESPERANZA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ESPERANZA after the race did not show any significant findings. ROCKET WIN, FUJIAN PRINCE and HONEST TREASURE were sent for sampling.
