Racing Incident Report

WINE WIN was withdrawn on 17.4.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FAST WINNER (M Nunes). Before being allowed to race again, WINE WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. INSIDER began awkwardly and lost ground. FAST WINNER began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall, causing M Nunes, its rider, to become unbalanced. Shortly after the start, FAST WINNER, DR POSSI, PERFECT TIME and GANBARIA were checked and lost ground when crowded for room between GENERAL KINGY which had its head on the side and shifted in slightly and SUPER RED which shifted out after being bumped by CHATER DE LAGO which on jumping shifted ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FLYING KENNY became unbalanced when racing tight inside the hindquarters of PERFECT TIME. GANBARIA was steadied away from the heels of FLYING KENNY, then shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of PERFECT TIME which at this time lost ground when following SUPER RED which commenced to give ground. Near the 400 Metres, GANBARIA was steadied away from the heels of PERFECT TIME, then shortly after straightening was steadied and shifted to the outside of SUPER RED which continued to give ground. Making the Home Turn, KAISER'S CHOIX hung out. At the 250 Metres, INSIDER was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between KINGSTON MARBLE and GANBARIA which at this time shifted out. Near the 200 Metres, FAST WINNER was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SUPER RED which at this time drifted in, then after the 100 Metres was again steadied and shifted in when unable to continue improving between CHATER DE LAGO and GANBARIA. After passing the 200 Metres, GENERAL KINGY was carried wider by DR POSSI which shifted out. Over the concluding stages, GANBARIA hung in and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, GENERAL KINGY travelled wide and without cover. W M Lai (KINGSTON MARBLE) said he had been instructed to endeavour to have the horse begin well, ride it along for a short distance and then travel where it was comfortable. He said tonight KINGSTON MARBLE showed greater speed in the early stages than it did when he had ridden the horse in the past and as a consequence travelled more forward than is usual. GANBARIA was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of GANBARIA after the race did not show any significant findings. DR POSSI and KAISER'S CHOIX were sent for sampling.
