Racing Incident Report
GLOBAL LEADER was slow to begin. ISLAND SUNRISE began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, FINGERS CROSSED, HAPPY MASTER, LOLLIPOP and SEVENS HEAVEN were hampered when crowded for room by FOREVER FORTUNE which on jumping shifted out. When being ridden along shortly after the start, CIRCUIT HERO hung in. After the 1000 Metres, MY LANSON got its head up and lost ground when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BOLD CHAMPION. At the 250 Metres, SWEET BABY was steadied when awkwardly placed between FOREVER FORTUNE and SEVENS HEAVEN which when commencing to give ground shifted out slightly. MY LANSON, which had been commencing to close the race off, was checked and shifted in to avoid the heels of SWEET BABY. After this, MY LANSON did not obtain clear running and was not fully tested. Throughout the race, SEVENS HEAVEN travelled wide and without cover. The performance of ISLAND SUNRISE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ISLAND SUNRISE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O Doleuze (FINGERS CROSSED), which was racing first up from a let-up, said rounding the Home Turn he was following HAPPY MASTER which was racing to the inside of ISLAND SUNRISE. He said he was aware ISLAND SUNRISE had endured a tough run and he felt the horse would commence to give ground on straightening. He said because of this he maintained his position behind HAPPY MASTER in the belief that he would be able to get running to the outside of that horse shortly after straightening. He said as a consequence of this he was held up and unable to obtain clear running until near the 300 Metres when he was able to improve between HAPPY MASTER and ISLAND SUNRISE which at this time had commenced to give ground. O Doleuze was told his explanation would be reported. GLOBAL LEADER and MY LANSON were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GLOBAL LEADER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GLOBAL LEADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MY LANSON after the race did not show any significant findings. CIRCUIT HERO and LOLLIPOP were sent for sampling.
