Racing Incident Report
WATCH WHAT HAPPENS was taken across behind runners from a wide barrier. HONEY MONEY began awkwardly and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. Shortly after the start, PACKING ANGEL lost ground when crowded for room between WHATABOB and GOLDEN SUN. Making the first turn, PACKING ANGEL was steadied when awkwardly placed inside GOLDEN SUN. At the 1200 Metres, AMPLE GAINS was checked when crowded for room inside WADADELIGHT which shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRETTY TRIO which after shifting out slightly shifted back in when barely clear. In this incident, WADADELIGHT also became unbalanced and lost ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Near the 1000 Metres, WATCH WHAT HAPPENS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of WHATABOB. Near the 600 Metres, WADADELIGHT was bumped on the hindquarters by AMPLE GAINS which shifted out when close to the heels of PRETTY TRIO. YOUNG HERO, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of AMPLE GAINS. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, WHATABOB was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, STAY YOUNG was steadied when held up and unable to obtain clear running behind GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. Throughout the race, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of PACKING ANGEL, Apprentice H W Lai said after being interfered with shortly after the start his mount was off the bit throughout. He said he was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance. C K Tong (WADADELIGHT) explained in the middle stages he was left racing wide and without cover. He said as a consequence of this after the 300 Metres WADADELIGHT gave ground. PACKING ANGEL and WADADELIGHT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PACKING ANGEL and WADADELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. GOLDEN SUN and GLOBAL WIN were sent for sampling.
